For 17 dollars...

I'm sure the quality is not the absolute best. But, for like 17 dollars, I ordered these macro filters for my 30 mm f/1.4 prime lens on my D40 (idea from Allie Hoopes, check out her blog for tons of fabulous tutorials and ideas) and now I can shoot this close:

with the same light and bright, short depth of field, fabulous lens. This is without any cropping. Also, without any cropping, this is as close as I could get before with the same lens:

Pretty cool eh? Oh and these are like the yummiest sugar cookies ever, recipe from friend, Tabitha, who threw that little Halloween party in my photos. Hers look like pumpkins, or some other cute holiday object with colorful frosting, lots prettier than mine. But mine made me just as fat and happy. The secret (at least that makes them SOOO good to me) almond extract in the frosting. Yum. Maybe I'll have to post the recipe next time. outa time!

So, besides your beaufiful cookies and little little children, what's yummy enough to take pictures THAT close:). (just kidding) That's really exciting!

Love that picture!!!! I love how you scroll down and it just keeps going... Those cookies are fabulous... she made them again for Activity Days last night and I snuck some home and had them for breakfast. I need that recipe!!!!

Like that whoever-mom said, I haven't actually pulled them out that often. I'm sure baby toes will present a good opportunity however. I've got a cookie recipe that sounds similar from a friend that also makes me want to use my energy-of-the-day making them so that I can eat them. And stare at them way way way up close :)

So much fun Lillie. I love macro shots...and there are lots more things that you could take pictures of that close. For example the butterfly exhibit at the Living Desert, but seriously the best would be little bitty baby toes!
Filters are awesome...and you did an awesome job with them!

okay so i first got this on my reader like 3 minutes after you first posted it and I wanted to write "FEED ME!" but I didn't want to seem TOO eager. :) seriously, so yums.

I'm little bitter at your "fat and happy" comment though because I've seen pictures of you lately and you are looking like you've been DENYING yourself things like cookies...you look HOT and I'm jealous.

that's all. you're great. :)

Those cookies are so close you can almost taste them. Yum.

I just ordered myself some of those filters. Yay. I've been wanting a macro lens for a long time, but this is cheap. I'll try them. Thanks for the 411.

Now we're talking! I hate to be obnoxious but you have a gift with that camera. Thanks Lillie! :)

Lillie, how did you get Sophia to let you stack those cookies and leave them piled up long enough to take pictures? Send me the recipe, please.

Hi!
So this may be wierd but I was having fun searching blogs of some of my old high school friends and came upon yours. I went to high school with Ross. Tell him Cindy Glover said hi and that your fam is so cute!

Anyways, I love your photography! I recently got into the hobby after having my little one. Can I ask waht program you use to edit your photos? They are so sharp!

Thanks!
~Cindy

I think by the fact that I've been craving sugar cookies for 3 days speaks for itself. PLEASE post the recipe for both the cookies, and your photography skills. Is that possible? Also, kudos to your advice giving. Will you and Ross be in Utah in July for anything?
