Close enough?

We have a knock-off! A non-chain one called Mango Tree. I was a little disappointed at the messy counter and low toppings (they were out of the Mochi, which Sarah made me get while in NYC, never would have otherwise, they look kind of like clear gummy bears- I know that sounds gross but you HAVE to get them-- they were called rice cakes at Pinkberry... made the treat SOOOOO fun and SOOO good).
Anyway-- so it wasn't perfect, but it was 30 minutes to closing, in their defense. But besides that, it was that same delicious, tart yogurt, with pretty, fresh fruit goodness on top. They even had the same Ikea light fixtures hanging all over and that simple, modern feel. However, they also offered gelato, which made it cool if you want gelato--- but took away a little of that clean, simple look. All in all though.... how the heck we've had a Pinkberry knock-off in my neighborhood for FIVE months without my knowing is beyond me. Apparently, I'm SO not in the know. It took Ross' friend, who just moved here from New York coming back to the office with his colorful treat for us to hear about it. I'm super. duper. excited.
You local girls-- (I say that like we live somewhere cool like Hawaii) -- it's on the corner of El Paseo and 74 in the same parking lot as Pick Up Stix. Lisa, I can't believe you didn't already know about this--- which leads me to believe you DID know and never shared the secret. Hmm. Enjoy fellow desert-dwellers. We're getting hipper by the second.

Lillie, you'll be SO excited to know that there is a Pinkberry being put in on El Paseo. Right next door to Williams-Sonoma & the new JCrew. I saw a sign a couple weeks ago, but i'm not sure when they open!

I have to admit that I've never heard of Pinkberry but if I ever see one, I'll have to try it.

My fav is Golden Spoon. 17 calories an ounce of pure yumminess. We also tried one over the weekend that was a self-serve frozen yogurt joint with yummy toppings and very cool atmosphere. Hooray for delicious COLD desserts.

Hmmmm. I'm still hooked on Jeanett's brownies that you got me dreaming about when you were out here. I think I've made them every weekend for the last month and a half... I know, I know. Maybe that's why I haven't lost that 5-25 pounds (depending on which goal I'm pursuing). Please no more delicious ideas.

I can't believe I let you down. Your image of me will be forever tarnished. There is also a Cactusberry in Palm Springs which is also very similar. Everything there is made of completely recycled materials - even the "plastic" spoons. Now I will have to run to both and give you my comparison. Maybe I can redeem myself.

You're right, now that I've been, I do feel more hip. I must agree, it is super yummy yogurt. I am planning on many more visits.

Hi lady. I saw that store and wondered what it was. Thanks for helping us be "in the know." Did it have a little sign "Mango Tree" in the window? I've seen Mango Tree somewhere in the area. Now where was that??? If the mochi you like is Japanese mochi, it is a pounded rice. They have it in a lot of their sweets. You are so international! I'm hungry for some dessert!
