Another "NEW" hand-me-down treasure

So I probably seem like a greedy, greedy furniture opportunist, feeding on the generosity of stylish siblings. And I sort of am. I just can't pass up a good deal on things that I know have been treated so well and that I've been coveting since I first laid eyes on them in their original home. Byron and Kim moved into that new home we spent the 4th at, and since it doesn't have a loft like their last house, they don't need their sectional anymore.

So... we bought it from them over the 4th and loaded it up in my dad's boy-scout trailer and had a new family room that night! I LOVE it. I've always felt like our family room was way too small and thought the sectional might dwarf it even more. But I actually feel just the opposite... Without our big, fat, messy love sac in there, we don't have to have the room at an angle anymore and it feels even bigger. Plus we avoid those awkward visits from people who don't know how to work the sac and look incredibly uncomfortable the entire time, swallowed up in its cushiness. (Usually the visiting teaching type.) So for now, the sac is in the guest room, it fits alright for showing the house. And the sofa is shrink-wrapped, nice and safe in the garage. In my dream world, our next house will have a loft and we'll need all three so I won't feel frivolous. :)

Blow it up. I need it to pop out at me so I can inspect the super stylish throw pillows along with it. I LOVE it. Can you do another house tour again of each room (you still haven't shown Sophias room). It's so fun to glean ideas from you.

I LOVE it. I love sectionals and all their roominess. One of my requirement of a couch is that it be deep so you don't feel like you are being pushed off by the back pillows. This one looks so perfect. PB? Is the material velvety?

To the greedy furniture opportunist: you are lucky, spoiled, and I'm TOTALLY jealous! You have a great taste and I need you to come to my house and redo everything! It looks beautiful in your house! Congratulations, you lucky duck! I'm with Missy: room to room tour please?

How do you have more really nice furniture than anyone near our age? Goodness Lil, this looks perfect, as does the rest of your beautifully decorated house. It reminds me of going through (pretty) Becca's house the other day in Utah and DYING over her perfectly decorated home. She finally told me that the selling point for her was that they bought the model home, and it came with all of the furniture and decor. Remind me to do that...

beauty :) I'm right there with you on the needing a better place for visiting teachers...I can just picture them slinking back into the luv sac. :) maybe they'll miss it. Anyway, what a great couch. I don't think you're greedy at all, just benefiting from your lack of "need-it-to-be-brand-new"ness... so no worries! beatuy!

That couch looks perfect in your family room! I love it! And by no means are you greedy...I look at it this way. Your family obviously doesn't need the furniture that you take off their hands so it's a way for them to sell it easily to someone who will truly enjoy it!

Whatever, such a beautiful room! Okay, but what I want to talk about is the table. Is it a trunk--as in, can you put stuff in it? I've been looking high and low for THAT table. Where is it from, is it the kind of item that I could somehow purchase and find sitting in my living room? (Like when you ask someone where they got their shirt and they say "Banana, on sale.") Please bless you'll say, "Pottery Barn, on sale."

Missy- yes it's that velvety fabric from PB. Totally deep enough to cuddle up in-- doesn't push you off of it. But you should really come over and check it out yourself!

Rebecca- I don't know if you'd call it a trunk- it doesn't open from the top or anything, but every other drawer is a nice big working drawer (so you've got 4)that of course we have stuffed full of who-knows-what. It does come in incredibly handy for more storage, and a close-by blanket.

Oops, oh and Rebecca- it's from Pier 1. We got it (on sale :)) with gift cards when we got married a little over 4 years ago. I didn't think they had the sturdiest stuff but it's a rock. But it was 4 years ago-

Do you know what's hilarious? Just last night I had some free time (amazingly enough) and I clicked through Rebecca's links and was reading your blog. You have a beautiful family! I miss CA a lot and grew up in Eureka (way up north) so I like to live through people that live near the coast. Makes me feel better.
