Beautiful paint, all moved in, tons of boxes still, but enough closet and garage space to hide them... kitchen fully functioning, pantry organized like never before, enough cabinet space for a sippy drawer and a whole baking corner, everything a chocolate-chip-cookie-lover could want. Finally hot showers after one ice-cold one and some really greasy hair (don't worry I bathed the kids at Lizzie's.) Everything is good. Well everything WAS good, (except for the tragedy of no internet or cable until next WEDNESDAY. You can imagine my feelings of isolation. All the things I imagine blogging about but can't. All the lives I want updates on. Blasted Time Warner Cable!) Like I said everything WAS good until.....

Friday night, we're watching Lion King (thanks Kodi) and I walk over to the guest bathroom to... use it, and the door is shut atop a very wet carpet floor. what? I open it up and. Wow. The tub is full of brown water, the floor is covered in brown water, the toilet is dripping with brown water. Oh wait, my feet are getting wet. And yes it stinks. Like a porta potty.

Yes, my week-old home has had a sewage back-up. And it feels like we are living in the engine of an airplane since they have our entire bath/laundry/play/and half of the dining room taped off and drying under huge NOISY blowers. It's awful. They've ripped out the carpet, the drywall a few feet up, and the cabinets. My beautiful new home is torn apart. What on earth?

I'm just feeling grateful that it's not really our problem and the builder is taking care of it. Sigh. That's the latest.

I'm hogging the computer at Lizzie's between conference sessions. Can't wait for Wednesday.

Just another day in paradise. . .

That is Ryan's favorite thing to say when things are going great or things are going wrong. (It helps to say it with a lot of exaggeration and sarcasm when things are going wrong.)

FREAK OF NATURE!! Does life just ever feel like a whole lot of fuss? When we moved into our new house the upstairs bathroom shower pipes leaked into the main floor family room. They had to tear open my ceiling to find the problem. Fortunately, the builders do care about their reputations, and they do a good job repairing the damage. Nevertheless, I am super sorry for you at the overly HUGE bummer-ness of te situation. It is times like that when i have to take a deep breath and say "at least I have a house !?" :)

How terrible! I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Hang in there and hopefully it will all be over soon. :) Glad that Lizzie is such a nice friend to let you hang out there while your house is sopping wet...

Remind me to tell you about our drama with our new house a few years ago. Not quite at the level of a porta potty stench...but it's up there.

Glad you're all moved in. Can't WAIT to see photos.

I can't believe that! I thought of something kind of funny to say, but this might not be to a funny stage yet so I'll have to pass on that. I've found I have to see the humor in everything because I might spend a lot of time crying if I don't. :) I'm so sorry this is how you're spending your first week in your beautiful new home. If you need a place to hang out that has cable and the internet, let me know. Good luck! Looking forward to happier days and wonderful pictures of your house with color. (not brown) :)

Ok, well I'll give you that. You HAVE been busy. I feel so bad for you, why can't things just go SMOOTHLY!? I will be so happy for you when things have calmed down and you've got your girls settled in, non stinky bathroom, and you're back to your normal routine. Until then! Good luck.

OH LILLIE! I'm so sorry. Didn't this happen in your last house.. not a sewage backup but some leaking thing. yuck! Hang in there. I hope that they can take care of it soon. I'm so glad that it's there problem. They will fix it and it'll be better than brand new.
At least your house is big enough that you still have living space to work around.
Congratulations... not sure if that's appropriate right now or not.

Wednesday is here! Hooray! Tell me you have internet, and will post soon with all the details of your home + move in + life after sewage-ness (so sorry about that). DR Horton built our last house and they were AMAZING at all the extra work they did for us up to a year and a half after we moved in. I hope it proves ok for you too.

Know that I'm dying for some Lillie posts though.

And did you know we found out we are having a second baby girl?!! Hooray for girls...

OH MY GOSH!!! Lillie, I seriously can't even believe that! I was totally cracking up, (while feeling very sorry for you at the same time) when you said, "oh wait. my feet are getting wet, too." That is seriously TERRIBLE, I can't even imagine this last week with a toddler AND a baby, trying to dodge the blowers, while keeping Sophia out of those rooms. (I know my little Lillie would not be able to resist the tape) Well, I'm glad it's now Wednesday, and can't wait to see new pictures and an update. I'm so sorry!!
